Best Shopify Email Marketing Apps 2026 (What We Run)
Share
The honest headline first: email is the single biggest lever we pull on our own stores, because the automated flows earn on autopilot from customers who were going to leave. So the app you want is the one that makes those flows easy to build and does not punish you as your list grows. For most lifestyle Shopify brands, that is Omnisend, which is what we run.
Omnisend, for most lifestyle stores
Email and SMS in one, quick pre-built flows, and pricing that stays fair as the list grows. It is live on our own stores, earning from the welcome, cart and win-back sequences. Free to 250 contacts, then from $16 a month.
We have four Shopify stores sending email every day, so this is written from the sales figures on our own dashboards, not a features page. Below are the apps that actually move revenue in 2026, the real starting price, and the trap to avoid on pricing.
What we run, and the apps worth your time
| App | Best for | Starts at | Free plan | Our take |

| Omnisend | Email + SMS, best value | Free, then from $16/mo | Yes, 250 contacts | What we run |

| Shopify Messaging | Starting for free | Free to 10,000 emails/mo | Yes | Start here |
| Seguno | Simple, native | Free, then $35/mo | Yes, 250 subscribers | Easiest to learn |

Omnisend, Seguno and Shopify Messaging were checked on 24 October 2026. Every app here prices by contact count, so confirm the live figure for your own list size before you commit.
Omnisend: email and SMS in one, and what we run
We run Omnisend because it does email and SMS from one place, the pre-built flows are quick to set up, and the pricing stays fair as the list grows. The free plan covers 250 contacts and 500 emails a month, which is enough to prove the flows work before you pay anything. Paid starts at $16. On our own stores the welcome, cart and win-back flows quietly earn a large share of revenue every month. If you want one tool that does the whole job without a data-science degree, this is the one we would hand you. The flows matter more than the app, and our Collection-First SEO System covers the pages those emails send people to. The collection page SEO work is what makes those pages worth sending traffic to.
Klaviyo: the power pick for data and scale
Klaviyo is the app most big stores end up on, and for good reason. Its segmentation and reporting are the deepest on the market, and it uses your Shopify data better than anyone. Its free plan covers 250 profiles and 500 sends a month. The trade-off is price and complexity: it climbs quickly as your list grows, and it can feel like a lot for a small store. If data and scale are the point and you have the revenue to match, Klaviyo is the strongest choice.
Shopify Messaging: the free place to start
Shopify renamed this one, so if you are hunting for Shopify Email, it is now Shopify Messaging. It is built in and free for your first ten thousand emails a month, then $1 per additional thousand. It is basic, without the deep automation of the others, but it is the honest zero-cost way to send your first campaigns while your list is small. Start here, then graduate when the flows justify a proper tool.
Seguno: the simplest native option
Seguno lives inside your Shopify admin, so there is nothing new to learn and no separate login. It handles campaigns and the main flows cleanly, free to 250 subscribers. The paid Standard plan is $35 a month for 2,500 subscribers, so it stops being the cheap option sooner than people expect. It is not as powerful as Omnisend or Klaviyo, but for a store owner who wants email done simply and kept close to Shopify, it is the easiest on-ramp.
Privy: capture first, then send
Privy started as a pop-up tool and grew into email, so it is strong at the top of the funnel: turning visitors into subscribers, then emailing them. If your list is small and growing it faster is the priority, Privy earns its place. Heavy senders usually move to Omnisend or Klaviyo once the list is built.
Mailchimp: familiar, but not Shopify-first
Most people know Mailchimp, and that familiarity has value. It is a capable all-rounder with a free plan. The honest caveat is that it is not built Shopify-first the way Omnisend and Klaviyo are, so the store integration is not as tight. Choose it if you already know it and want to keep one tool across projects.
Kit: the pick for content-led brands
Kit, formerly ConvertKit, is built for creators and content-led brands. If your store grows on a blog, a newsletter or a personal brand as much as on ads, Kit handles that audience beautifully and starts cheap. For a pure product store, one of the Shopify-first tools will fit better.
The flows that matter more than the app you pick
Whichever app you choose, the money is in the automated flows, not the one-off campaigns. Set up four and you have the bulk of the win: a welcome flow for new subscribers, an abandoned cart flow to recover the sale, a post-purchase flow to bring them back, and a win-back flow for lapsed customers. These run on their own, day and night.
The pricing trap: you pay for contacts, not sends
Almost every email app prices by the number of contacts on your list, not the emails you send. The trap is a list full of people who never open anything, quietly raising your bill. Clean your list a few times a year, remove the truly dead contacts, and your cost stays sensible while your open rates go up. A smaller engaged list beats a big dead one on every measure that matters.
Which email app should you pick?
Starting out and want it free? Use Shopify Messaging while your list is small. Want the best all-round tool without the Klaviyo price? Run Omnisend, which is what we do. Big store, deep data, budget to match? Klaviyo. Content-led brand? Kit. There is no single best app, only the best for your stage, and the flows matter more than the logo either way. If you are picking the rest of your stack too, our guide to the best SEO app for Shopify is the companion piece, and the Shopify SEO tools and guides collection has the rest.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best email marketing app for Shopify?
For most lifestyle Shopify stores we would pick Omnisend, because it does email and SMS in one place, the flows are quick to build, and the price stays fair as your list grows. Klaviyo is the stronger choice at scale if you have the data needs and the budget.
Is Shopify Messaging good enough on its own?
For a brand-new store, yes. Shopify Messaging, formerly Shopify Email, is free for your first ten thousand emails a month and lets you send campaigns while your list is small. Once you want proper automated flows and segmentation, move to Omnisend or Klaviyo.
Klaviyo or Omnisend, which should I choose?
Omnisend for most stores, because it is easier and cheaper and includes SMS. Klaviyo for larger stores that need the deepest segmentation and can absorb the higher price. Both are built Shopify-first.
Are there free Shopify email marketing apps?
Yes. Shopify Messaging, Omnisend, Seguno, Privy, Mailchimp and Kit all have free plans. Most cap at around 250 contacts, so treat them as a way to prove the flows work rather than a permanent home.
How much do Shopify email apps cost?
Most price by contact count, not emails sent. Expect free to start, then from about $16 a month for a small list, rising as it grows. Omnisend starts at $16, Seguno jumps to $35 once you pass 250 subscribers, and Klaviyo climbs faster at scale. Checked 24 October 2026.
What email flows should every Shopify store set up first?
Four: a welcome flow, an abandoned cart flow, a post-purchase flow, and a win-back flow for lapsed customers. These automated sequences earn the bulk of email revenue, and they run without you once they are set.
Email only earns if people arrive in the first place. Our Shopify SEO checklist covers that half, and an ecommerce SEO audit finds what is holding it back.
